Sharon D. Mertins

Writer, Editor, Literary Coach

About

Hi! I’m Sharon, a writer, editor, literary coach—and occasional podcast mischief-maker. My stories have appeared in Bridge Eight, Jersey Devil Press, Leopardskin and Limes, Café Irreal, and a smattering of other excellent, genre-bending, word-loving publications.

I used to run The Reader Berlin, where I had the joy of working with lots of incredible emerging and established writers and also co-hosted the Story Strumpets Podcast, where we talked stories, creative process, and the chaos of the writing life—usually with a drink in hand and a lot of laughs.

These days, I provide manuscript assessments, mentoring, and proofreading services for authors. Whether you’re polishing a novel, untangling your plot, or simply looking for someone to tell you the truth (kindly, I promise!), I’m here for it.

I’ve got a sharp editorial eye, a brain wired for story—and, according to several voice memos, lots of live reading and a few karaoke nights, a pretty great voice, too! Which means I am open to collaboration (wink wink).

Want to know more about working with me? Curious about what a literary coach actually does? Or just want to say hi? Drop me a line!
